Seems to me you have four options:

1) Save the speaker for an 8 ohm application.

2) Get the speaker reconed to 4 ohms by a good shop. Not sure what that will cost but that is an important factor in your decision.

3) Buy a Weber Z-Matcher

4) Sell it or trade it for what you need.

That pretty much covers it.

-----I'm adding option #5:

5) run it in an amp that wants to see 4 ohms. You will give up some power but, depending on what amp it is, it would be ok.

On a solid state amp that is rated for a 4 ohm speaker, the 8 ohm will knock the maximum power to something just a little over half.

If you have space for two 8 ohm speakers, two 8 ohm speakers in parallel is 4 ohms.

Yes. Have it reconed with a 4-ohm voice coil. Very commonly done on Celestion 16-ohm speakers, which folks have reconed as 8-ohm speakers.

Just be SURE the recone shop specializes in guitar amp speakers and not hi-fi speakers. A good recone is not expensive ($50-75 for a 12" usually) and involves remagnetizing as well as reconing. Shops that just slap in a new cone and voice coil are not doing a full job.

I put an 8 ohm JBL in a Nashville 400 and turned it into a heavy Bandit
