George, I have two Emmons pedals with the Weldon mod. If you wish I can email you a wiring description of it.

It's been around since the early 70's. I did a lot of the "Weldon Myrick" mods to Emmons VP's when I was working at Little Roy Wiggin's music store.

It's not as popular, today, as it was then. It will tend to act somewhat like a tone control as it will vary the load on the guitar's pickup.

I have the schematic if anyone wants it.

Dad had one years ago.I never saw the need for it.However I was just a kid. The only thing I noticed was an increase of power.Seems it bypassed the tone controls on the guitar. Anyway I had more power than the speaker, 15 JBL' could handle in my Twin Reverb anyhow.

George, I don't have a scanner but here is the way it is done. There is a second 500K pot mounted on the pedal. On my Emmons pedal it is mounted in the top footrest part of the pedal toward the back on the right side. Just drill a hole and mount the pot. Looking from the back of the two pots with the terminals pointed to the left, there is a wire from the center terminal of the 2nd pot to the positive terminal of the INPUT jack. There is a wire from the bottom terminal of the 2nd pot to the ground terminal of the output jack. This pedal belonged to Mike Cass so I know it is done right. He told me to turn the second (tone) pot all the way on clockwise then back it off just enough to give a bass boost. Holler is this is not understood.

True, it has been around for many years! What it actually is/does is change the Taper on the main Volume~Pot! This causes/allows the Lower~Frequencies to be amplified sooner. The value of the extra pot is not critical and as long as you use the correct terminals on both pots, it doesn't matter which of the correct wires is soldered to which of the correct terminals. (Terminals *#1 & #2 of the Volume-pot to terminals **#2 & **#3(?) of the Tone~pot) [*#1 to **#2 or **#3 of the extra-pot] Goodrich made a pedal like this for some years! It's some what similar to reversing your input & output cords on our volume-pedal only this pot allows the change to be gradual! The ‘Electronics~Dummy’ has spoken
again!

Bill, it does make a difference which way you plug into the volume pedal. At least on the mod I got, that came from Weldon.

I did the mod for a well known (and now retired) steeler there in Nashville. He gave me the instructions on how to do the mod that he had got from Weldon. I checked it out and it worked perfectly. He picked it up and came back about 4 hours later and said he tried to use it on the syndicated TV show they were recording and it wouldn't work. Bob Browning asked him to plug it into one of the display steels so we could check it and bingo - he was plugging in the steel to the wrong jack! He went out red faced.
