Hello, I play guitar and steel and I'm trying to cut down on the amount of equipment, I have to take to the gigs. How would I hook up two preamps to same effects unit, while using one power amp. I know I could use Y-cables, but I understand they cause signal decay. Any thoughts, Thanks! |

I'm sure there are some A-B boxes out there that would do the trick.

Thanks for the reply Erv, but if I use an A-B box, both instruments would be sharing the same tone and volume controls. |

YOu need a rack mounted mixer. I have a six channel all tube mixer made by Peavey it is called the Valvex.
Do a search or E Bay search. It will allow you to run in at least six instruments in mono out to an effects unit then into a power amp and subsequently to your speaker cabinets.
Give it a try. When I don't have room to use my 65 Twin Reverb for guitar, I run my Steel and Tele through the valvex into my Webb 6-14-E.
Good Luck!

If you put the A/B box between the preamps and the poweramp they would not share controls. If the A/B box was between the instruments and the preamp, then they would share controls.
