it's all so subjective, but if you found a genuine "under the bed" 1965 BF Fender Twin Reverb Amplifier, how much would you pay?

I have one of these a super twin I bought in a pawn shop for $300

I have an old black faced (s/n a-02982) twin that I bought used in 1966. I put JBL (D-120F) speakers in it about 1970. I think the originals were Utals. I would still be using it if were not so heavy. It's not for sale, but it would be nice to know what it's worth.

I recently paid $550 for a really clean early '70's SilverFace Twin. With a Danny Shields pickup in my Sierra through the Twin it sounds real "early '70's Bobby Black with Comander Cody"-esque. Too Much Fun!

Keep it.... it is getting hard to find good original black faced twins. The re-issues are nice, but they are not the same. You would be safe in gettin 1K for the real deal...

I've got two of em. Ser # AO 3554, and AO 3743. One is allmost pristine, The other literally has "Combat" experience. Someone would have to want them awfully bad to get them. I'm planning on leaving them to my grandson. If I left them to his dad, they could be bought for $5.00,I'm not planning on leaving anytime soon though.

I just did some shopping for a used Twin Reverb, and would have bought a BF if I could have found one reasonable. Cheapest one I saw was a pretty beat up '64 for a $1000 that sold while I was in the store. The sales guy said they had only had it a couple of days.

I finally ended up paying $550 for a '69 that's in fair condition (at a dealer, they had it marked $650), but it was playable as is and didn't need immediate tubing. I thought that was too much, but I couldn't find any other Twin any cheaper that wasn't a basket case or really beat up. SF Twins used to be fairly easy to find for $300-$400....

I expect a really clean BF would bring in excess of $1000 pretty easily.

"Pristine" '65 TR with everything original? I would say $1000 to a player, and maybe twice that to a collector! Very few of these amps are still around in original shape. I've got one in excellent condition (I bought it new in '66 for $550), but it's not original...new OT & speaker, new caps and plate resistors, original tolex, new GC. I've yet to see one in better shape, cosmetically. But top dollar calls for 100% original...nothing less! Average condition demands $250-$450.

And if you HAD a "pristine" one, you'd be a FOOL to USE it!

well, apparently the one I was interested in is not "PRISTINE" 100% original- the speakers have been replaced. APARRENTLY nothing else though (but after the first misrepresentation I have my doubts) and it is pretty clean cosmetically. I think they want too much for it. But dam I'd love to have one...

In the intervening 3.75 years I did indeed find my "tone-quest" Twin, right here on the forum... a '68 SF retrofitted with a JBL D130f. Not 'pristine,' but in quite fine shape... a true "picker's amp". Sounds great and I'm not afeard to gig it in case it gets "dinged"

Upwards to $1500 for sure. A Deluxe Reverb, Super Reverb or a Vibrolux were less expesive but are drawing as much or more right now. Sounds like a great amp!

a pristine unmolested all original BF 65' Twin is worth $1,800 - $2,000.

I was at the Great American Guitar Show this past weekend, and good condition black face Supers and Twins were going for $1,500 to $2,000. Early silvers were going for $1,000 to $1,500. I'm about to pay $700 for a late '70s silver face Twin (135 watts, ultralinear transformer, master volume). Regular guitar players shun these as too clean, but from what I have read on the Forum they are better for pedal steel.

Personally, I wouldn't pay over $1,000 for <u>any</u> amp. I can tell you, though, that you'd have <u>no trouble at all</u> getting $2,500 to $3,500 if it was indeed "mint original" (maybe even more). Collectors are going nuts over those old B/F Fender amps.

I just recently sold a near mint '64 Twin on eBay for $2400.

I'll bring this back form the dead one more time... -L- Yesterday, I bought a very beat but orignal 66 Twin at the Marin Guitar show for 800 bucks. A near-mint 99% orignal 64 -- 67 Twin Reverb is going to fetch 2500 bucks these days

The amp has two original cone Altec-Lansing speakers and weighs a ton. But I think it is going to sound pretty good with my Emmons, once Skip puts the innards right...
