Topic: Fender Jazz King as a steel amp |

I was just made aware of the Jazz King amp on Harmony Central(NAMM Coverage).
This amp is based on the Steel King amp with 60watts less power(140 watts).
What are your thoughts? It should be a good steel amp,right?

I guess so...but why pay the same price for
less watts and a plain Eminence speaker instead
of the one modeled after the JBL D130?
It's probably "mellower" than the Steel-King
I would think. |

I don't know anyone using a "Jazz King" for pedal steel. Why wouldn't you use something that's actually made for pedal steel, rather than to try and make something else suffice?
Seems like wasted effort, and possible money, to me.

You can get a Fender Steelking from Bobbe Seymour for the same money.BTW, my Steelking sounds very good when I play my Strat through it.I can even get a good jazz tone with the 15"speaker. I really like mine.

| I did notice that the "Jazz King" weighed in at 16 lbs. less than the "Steel King" which may be a mitigating factor for some players who don't need the extra power.(Possibly Fender took note of the success of the Nashville 112 and decided to enter the lighter weight amp market?) However, I must agree with Jay, the difference in power and speaker choice should be reflected in a lower price. |
