This is SOOO odd... about 5 years ago, I found a 1968 Fender Super Reverb, that had been cut into a head... I wanted to make it back into a 4x10 combo, but after pricing aftermarket cabs,I was shocked.. I could have bought a Blackface for about the same price as putting this amp together..
Anyway, I found a Lab Series 4x 10 combo cab and spekers.. for $125 I think.. A very small amount of creative wood working and I had a FANTASTIC sounding nice looking amp... It is probably the best tone I have ever had in any amp. I should NEVER have sold it.... Forward to about 2 months ago... I buy a Fender Vibrosonic head.. again somebody took the amp apart and made it into a head.
The seller[ a forumite] tells me its a non original cab.. ok,I'll buy it... It arrives and guess what kind of cab the Fender head is in... Lab Series...
Forward again to Sun May 15 of this year.. I go to a steel jam at the music store of forumite Larry Jamieson.
I see an empty Twin size combo cabinet with 2 12'Gibson labeled speakers still in it... Just the right size for the Vibrosonic head I recently bought.
Larry sees me looking at it and says... Want it? .. TAKE it!!... Hurry up put it in your truck!! ... Need help??.. I guess Larry WANTED me to have this cabinet... So anyway.. I AGAIN own a Fender amp in a Lab Series cab.. This one is a clean looking 2 12 combo.. Fender Head, LS cab, Gibson speakers... THREE times!!
I haven't seen a LS amp in DECADES, but somehow in the last few years I have wound up with THREE LS cabinets with Fender power and never ONCE did I look for one... so weird... I imagine this abundance of LS cabs means that repair parts are NOT available for them any longer.. What are the odds of having 3 LS Fender mutants ??... man,,only me.... bob[This message was edited by Bob Carlucci on 23 May 2005 at 09:45 PM.]
