Andy Parker and the Plainsmen were in a number of Eddie Dean westerns in 1947. These two get my vote for what we see of Joaquin:

"The Black Hills" - The Plainsmen join Eddie in the final scene on a swingin' number titled "Let's Go Sparkin'". Murph synchs an 8 bar solo on his Dickerson and grins big.

"Check Your Guns" - Murph helps round up the bad guys, rides a horse,and shows us his talents with a six-shooter. Not bad for a Hollywood native !

Joaquin used to talk about all that.He said they made several Eddie Dean pictures and when the opportunity to make additional bucks as an extra came up,he and several other guys in the band figured what the hell.He said they basically got a couple days training on how to ride a horse and then they just went for it.In one picture where he was riding with a "posse" chasing the bad guys through the hills,Murph's horse decided it had had enough so it bailed from the group,left the hillside trail and galloped straight down the steep hillside and back to the stable.Joaquin decided he wasn't cut out to be a stunt man so he turned in his saddle and stuck to crowd and barroom scenes after that. -MJ-
