I have a Profex II that I use for both my tone controls and effects, and I am sick and tired of having spin the user-settings knob everytime I want to use a certain effect patch (like chorus, Lesley, phaseshift or slapback) for one verse or lead break.
Can someone suggest what type of compatible A/B or on/off foot switches I can use with my Profex so I can switch between 2 or more selectable presets?
It would have to be a floor pedal that I would tap with my right toe or heel to change settings, and not be so long that it won't be accessible with my right foot (lifted off the volume pedal).
If anybody has a footswitch controller that I can use, and you want to part with it, please let me know by replying to this thread.
TIA

Wiz, Peavey made a "Midi foot controller" for the Profex. It has a lot of functions. It plugs into the midi controller jack on the back of the profex. I had one but couldn't use it with my steel because it is rather large and foot controlled.
It is pricey and I don't know if it is still available. They sold in stores for ~ $250.
Check the Peavey website,or Mike Brown may get on here and fill you in on the latest info............JD |

Wiz, this page shows a downloadable manual for the controller I told you about. I don't think it is available for purchase any longer. This page is all that came up in a search of Peaveys website........JD

Here is the one you need. Ask them if they have the 8 pin cable. A five-pin midi cable will work, but requires a wall wart for the controller.
This thing does a lot! You can also turn on/off effects in the chain.

Thanks for the assistance, guys. The original Profex II footcontroller is no longer available as it was discontinued with the Profex II rack unit.
You might search ebay for one though.

Hi Wiz,
The Profex may have an input for an increment/decrement switch (using a momentary footswitch). You could possibly set up your programs where you could advance through one by one with that type of switch. Or you could use a MIDI pedal to change programs on the Profex using MIDI program change commands. These are larger pedals that allow you to select a bank, then a specific patch or combination of patches on multiple devices. My Meico Patch Commander will send up to ten program changes on ten MIDI channels with the press of a single button. Requires alot of programming, but once it's set up you can select patches easily.

I found a neat looking little foot controller from Rocktron, which sells for around $70, on Musicians' Friend and Music123, and also on eBay. It is called MIDI Xchange Controller. Does anybody have any experience with this unit and a Profex?

Wiz, they ARE available .... USED, and they are made for the profexII.
I traded one off not long ago. I think you can find one if you have time to search. |
