I have an old tube reverb unit with no brand name. It's a Fender size box with one 6V6 tube and one 12AX7A tube. The front panel has a mic input and a guitar input. And output to the amp. Two controls, Master and Reverb/Echo. A footpedal jack, off/on switch, power light and a fuse holder. It has a double spring reverb about 8inches long mounted inside a black cardboard holder (like a small shoebox). The tank sticker says Gibbs Mfg and Research Corp. Subsidiary of Hammond Organ Co.
Is this unit worth an electronic cleanup. What brand would it be?

That sounds like one of the "cheapie" reverb units that was built for one of the big chain stores (Sears/Silvertone, Wards/Airline, Western Auto/Truetone). They had a kinda phoney "tanky" sound, and most players ditched them for a better (name-brand, long-coil) reverb unit.

A few records were recorded, however, with that sound. So, if you can find an old surf-head player still gigging, you might get $30-$50 for the thing. (But remember, anything without a brand name on it is usually considered "yard-sale" material.)

Maybe I'll just keep the tubes and set the rest out on the curb.
Thanks

Hey Dennis, I'm a regular curb diver. If you decide to junk it, I'll pay for you to ship the carcass to me, and a few bucks for yourself for boxing it up.
