Has any of the guitar players on here ever used one of these? If so what are your thoughts about it?

I think it is a "digital" sounding unit.. Not bad,but not real natural or warm to my ears.. There is a lot to do in those things and you certainly can dial in some good sounds,but I prefer analog effects if I can find a place for them.

ART IS a good company and the SGX 2000 can be found used really cheap. Some of the effects in the SGX are quite good and others are blah,but that can be said of any of the digital multi units..The SGX 2000 is as good as any other digital multi out there I would say... bob

Thanks Bob for the info. I am thinking of going with the POD PRO. I believe I would like it much better.

I have used the SGX2000 on both six string and PSG. It is a 2U unit because it is both a preamp and a signal processor. The preamp is a 12AX7 tube preamp, and can be quite nice sounding with a PSG if you can find the right balance between tube drive and EQ. The processor has all the usual effects, plus the capacity to route them to your liking. The delay and reverb choices are many, and are really very nice sounding with PSG. Those are all I use on steel anyway. It is a handy unit to have in a rack set-up because you can switch easily between six string and steel. It has an input on the front and back, so you can leave both guitars plugged in. The presets have a programmable EQ, so you can tailor your own presets to suit. I run it to a Mosvalve power amp and then into a PV Blk Wdw in a Marrs speaker cabinet. The SGX2000 is a nicely engineered unit. My problem with all the programmable processors is that you wind up spending more time fiddling with the preset values than playing. Best of luck to you.
