I have a new nashville 112 and I have a hum in it. it is not a loud hum but a little more than i think should be in it. I have it hooked up from my volume pedal to the input High Gain and I have another cord from The Volume pedal to the Pre EQ Patch send. It sounds fantastic. Is there a better way to set this Amp up?? I'm not using any other equipment I'm going Direct.I do put the Izzy Plus on once in awhile but man that thing wears the battery out in about 3 to 4 days.
MIKE BROWN I would like you in on this subject.

Sam,
Are you in a room with reostat controls or fluorscent lights? Could be your problem.
Mine are as quiet as a church mouse pissin' on cotton.

Hello Sam, first of all thanks for purchasing the Nashville 112 amp. Does the amp hum with nothing connected to the input? If so, turn the reverb control down/off. If it still hums, I recommend that you return it to a dealer and/or heed what Bobby's suggestions are. The proper connection is illustrated in the operating guide that came with your amp. However, I recommend that you use the 3 cable hookup, ie; one cable from the output of your guitar straight into the HIGH GAIN input on the amp. Cable #2 from the pre eq send jack to the input of your volume pedal and cable #3 from the output of your volume pedal to the pre eq return jack on the amp.

Hope that this helps. If not, contact me at 1-877-732-8391, ext. 1180 on Tuesday or speak with any of our Customer Service reps on Monday.

Happy New Year!

Boby no I do not have floresent lights in my steel Room.I have my computer in hear white the steel and Amp. It is like a Hiss Hum but kind of low.

Mike Brown I thank you I just hook up the Nashville 112 the way you said and it sounds great but I still have that hiss and hum sound in it it is not loud but you can hear it a little more than a low sound. I have a Emmons La Grande III with a Bill Lawrence pick up in it. I think I want to put a Emmons single coil in it.Thanks Again and a super little Amp I love it.

Sam, the new 112 I bought also had a hum. I called Mike and he said it sounded like one of the amps that escaped quality control with the reverb wires soldered backwards. He suggested I take it to my nearest Peavey dealer, which I did. they took it apart and switched the wires in just a few minutes. That took care of it. It was quite as a mouse after that. BTW, it only hummed when I would turn the reverb up past 4, so that may not be your problem unless it hums more when you turn up the reverb.

Sam, a regular Lil Izzy is supposed to go 3000 hours on one battery, so I think something is wrong somewhere. Are you disconnecting the cord when not in use? Plugging in the cord activates the battery. I have both the regular and plus Izzy's and never had a problem with battery drain. I don't use them since getting the Hilton Pedal, but I only changed batteries a couple of times a year when I was using them.

Farris, You are not alone Pal. When I first started hooking up the way Mike just described, it scared me too. But believe me, its the best way I've ever found. I talked to Weldon Myrick one time about this. The best tone you can get from your pickup is with the pickup fully loaded. Hooking up the way Mike suggests does that. Thats why its such a radical difference. After I got used to the 3 chord set up and tweaked out my tone settings etc. I wouldn't go back to the old way. The older amps of course didn't have a loop to do this with. I love the newer peaveys for that reason. they give you two loops. My 112 is as quite as that mouse at Bobbys church too. Just my 2 cents.

Farris, you are right. Mike is the MAN. He's helped me a bunch.

ANd Peavey still makes the best steel amp.

My nash 112 is a little hissy especialy if you get too much gain on the front end. I have been able to tone it down with my 2101 in the post patch. overall the amp performs well although it is not exactly what i expected it to sound like from reading everyones
reports.

Last night,i changed picks, was using thin national vintage,i looked at them, and said those sure are light.i reached in stool, and got 2 heavier gage,jeff-fran picks.messed around with them, shaping ect.sat down, and i couldn't believe the difference in my sound.all got so solid,i played for 2hrs.after that,i was happy for one time.it's amazing how one little change can do so much.it's in the hands, and delivery no doubt about it. farris

Sometimes when trying to figure out low levels of hum, it's a good idea to see if the hum is actually an acoustical vibration from the power supply transformer. My 112 does it a little bit. Most power transformers have some degree of this. If you unplug one lead to the speaker, this will tell you right away if that's the case.

Farris, when all else fails, read the directions.
Your NV112 manual has pictures of the varies hookups. It also has pictures of settings on the amp. The "mid" control is a bit touchy. When mine is past 12 o,clock I start to get a flat "Mooney" sound. By backing the "mid" off a little bit, you will find a "sweet spot".
If you got one of the older manuals with yours(as I did) there is a mistake. Look on page 9. The post EQ "send" should go to effects "input" and "return" to effects output". If it is shown this way, you have the corrected manual. If not, correct it. The downloadable manual on the Peavey website is the correct version.
I am more than pleased with the sound from my NV112. Some effects units are noisy and you have to adjust their gain to reduce noise. That is why I use "Lexicon" which is as quiet as it gets. I do not hear any hiss when mine is adjusted properly......JD
