I was just curious if any of yall knew how I would go about rewiring an old CryBaby Wah pedal and making it into a volume pedal. If anyone can help me out, It would be greatly appreciated. thanks

anythings possible..
but the end result may not be one you ere pleased with.
What type and size pot is in the WAH pedal ? I never really thought to look at the old one I have somehwere in my attic..
Pretty much remove the tone control circuit out of the equation and wire direct to the pot and I suppose it could be done..

Yes. In fact, Dunlop sells a 470kA pot with a gear already on it. It's a replacement for their product that's called a "Hi-Gain" volume pedal that looks exactly like a Wah pedal except it's merely a passive volume pedal. The pot they sell is called a "Hot Potz" 470k.

Interesting. However: I know nothing about the Crybaby but an old Shinei junker I've got uses a rack & pinion to move the pot. Not only is it less smooth and controlled than a string drive but it also doesn't even come close to driving the full rotation of the pot----on a 1-10 range of throw (pot full on/pot full off), your choices are 1-8, 3-10 or 2-9 (very roughly speaking). This significantly compromises the pedal's effectiveness as a wah and I imagine it would likewise affect it's performance as a volume pedal. Crybaby may have no such issues. |

I converted a knackered Crybaby to a volume pedal and gigged with it for years. I still use it as my spare.
