This amp was designed for the Steel Guitar.
With only one input jack it prevents others from plugging in and distorting your sound.
This amp has been going strong since @ 1981.
Have did absolutly nothing to it. Has 2 12" speakers and an equalizer at @ 160 - 300 watt.
Wondering if the maker is still in business under the "Acoustic" brand name. It originated in California, anyone know?

Thanks for any feedback,

Delbert

They're out of business. Great amps. I didn't know they had any designed for Steel.
They were way ahead of their time.

I use an Acoustic 165 for Lead Guitar. circa 1978
5 Band EQ, 50-100W, four 6L6s, 12" EV.
Beautiful wood cabinet.

(I use a Nash 400 for Steel)

Hey Joey!!!...nice photos, looks alot like my amp. Is your grill original? I have the model "127". It's a solid state(no tube) amp and is far too heavy (est. 80-90 lbs).

There are plugs in back for foot switch, ext. speaker, input and output etc. The cabinet is of 3/4" wood and has a heavy "simulated leather" overlay with "brass" corner protectors. The amp originally sold for @ $1,200.00. It has been a good producer for @ 25 yrs. with absolutly no repairs or maintenance. I'm pulling a D-10 Sho Bud Super-Pro with "no attachments". Several musicians have ask "how do you get your guitar to sound like that"? I just smile and say "it's the amp"......

Thank you for taking time to post the photos....very nice!

Thanks, Delbert.
I suspect the high price was why they didn't sell many. I think Fender Twins were $800 in those days.

I always thought the grill was stock, but I bought it used in 1990, so I can't be sure.

It has two channels, and is switchable from a jack in the back labled "Volume".

It's heavy, and I also use a road case, that you can see doubles as a tilt stand. The sound is worth it.

Thanks Brian! I'll have to register my amp there.
I see it was $1195 on the 1980 price list.

Considering inflation, that's pretty high.
