Just wondering if anyone could help or if it needs to go to peavey - Started distorting a little lately and tonight died - only very low volume but once in a while it would come in strong - I don't think it's a speaker problem.

had a prob like that with my session 500 turned out to be a bad input jack. Later it developed some other problems which truned out to be the internal connectors. In both cases all I had to do was clean the parts and tighten all the nuts.
good luck

Send the Chassis back to Peavey. Tell Mike Brown you are sending it, give him the tracking number. He made sure that mine was back to new condition PDQ. Mine did the same thing that you describe about 1 month after I got it. I got it back from peavey in about 3 weeks. I've not had the problem since. Its more clean and crisp than any amp I've ever owned. I did purchase an excellent quality road case for it. I had it custom built. It was worth the $250. Keeps the amp nice and snug and shock proof in the back of a trailer or pickup bed whatever.

You might want to try a less expensive method first. I had a similar problem with my NV 1000. I took the chassie out and was about to send it to Peavey when they told me to first get some electronics cleaner like De-Oxit D-5 (available at Guitar Center)and spray it on all of the input and output jacks to get rid of any oxidation. Spray it on and work it in with a guitar cord a few dozen times. All of the 1/4" jacks are switches that can develope a bad connection. It worked for me. Good Luck! On yea, all of the jacks needed tightening also.

Garry - you got me thinking - maybe I should try a few more things - I cleaned all the inputs and It's working again but still distorting pretty bad.
