| Hi Everyone, I want to record myself to see how bad I suck. Could someone tell me an inexpensive rocording device that I could purchase. I have a cassette player only. Maybe someone will have something they want to sell. Thanks Bill |

Most major music stores have a little Tascam 4 track for a bill or two...JH

William,
It would seem to me you have a recording device right under your fingertips....your computer.
All that you would need is a cable to connect the output of your amp or preamp and some software. Windows comes with "Sound Recorder", you can use that or search the web for some free software. If you can get ahold of Cool Edit, that is a great program.

I think a little ole Jam box Cassette on the bandstand would tell you everything you need to know as far as your attack, Style, Acuracy, and timing. If you want to hear a good representive of your tone you'll need a more expensive, complex recorder.
You could ask one of your good friends (that would know) how your tone is, but most will probably tell you it is great. (It probably is!)
Could you tell your friend his tone was too Thin, or too Middy, or too Muddy? |
