Greetings,
I've been using a Profex 2 with Jeff's settings on it and the dual speaker 115 cab's for a long time. I recently had a battery problem ( I did resolve it..whew) but the effect is not going to last forever. I'm not really up on the latest and greatest. Any ideas on the mainstream effect used today? I've noticed that the Genensis 3 is being used but that has been discontinued.
Thanks,
George Seymour

George, when I was looking for advise on buying a rack effects unit, I got a lot of good advise on the forum. You can search the electronics section and find these posts. I settled on a Lexicon 110. I had used a profex for years and although I am a big fan of Peavey, the Lexicon is much quieter and has some great reverbs and delays. I also use the flange and chorus. I know that you will like any Lexicon product. They are also relatively easy to program and operate. The price is right also............JD |

The POD XT has many classic effects, as well as many amp and speaker cabinet models. Digitech, Korg and other companies have comparable units. These multieffects units cost about as much as two or three single effects units. [This message was edited by David Doggett on 03 November 2004 at 09:29 AM.] |

I am with JD: I have a Lexicon 100 (older, precedes the 110) and I like it more than the RV-3 I used to use. The Lexicon sound is cleaner, and it is rack-mounted so it is easy to transport. I just use delay + reverb.

Yes , I use an Alesis midi verb. I would like to try a Lexicon though. I guess I am not picky about sound as I also just use NV400 reverb and or a digitech stomp box digital delay. Jim |

I use an Alesis Midiverb also. I have a patch which adds an octave above harmony with the mix set low at 1. I use the reverb from the NV 1000. Sounds purdy and not unnatural at all.

Lexicon for beautiful clean sounds. I love mine. Just a simple delay sounds wonderful. If you need a bit of overdrive or grit, you will want a stomp box. I don't think Lexicon offers any of those kinds of effects.
Also, TC Electronics makes some nice rack mount units starting in the $300 range.
Hope this helps. |
