I have a twin that will sometimes hum loud or crack up when I lean it back,it will not do it setting flat on the floor,when it dose this I notice one of the 6L6 tubes will spark inside {BLUE} Looking frome the back of the amp.it has 4 6L6s,from left to right it is the first tube. It is a 65 RE. I had one like this before and it had 2 loose caps. in it,I checked the board an it seems to be ok. THANKS

Without attempting to be a smart-a$$, just replace the 6L6 that is sparking. That will fix your problem.

That tells me that the tube(vale) is defective. It will only get worst. Should you continue to use the amp with a shorting tube in it, you may have to replace tube,plus a couple of transformers as well.

BILL. Thank you I have another tube it is a 6L6-GC will it be ok to replace the GT6L6B with it or do I need to change all 4 THANKS

Check your tube sockets as well. You may also need to re-tension the metal contacts inside the socket holes (only do this with the amp unplugged and the filter caps discharged) or you may need to replace a socket.

You should be able to replace the single tube for purposes of testing to see if you still have the problem. I, personally, wouldn't leave a mismatched set of tubes in the amp, but it should be OK for a quick test. You might also first try swapping the suspect tube to another socket to see if the problem still occurs with the tube in a different location.

I think pulling the tube out as a test and lean on it will reveal if it's the tube

GOT IT FIXED. Thanks Bill,Jim,Mark, All of the above was the problem, the tube tested ok in the tester, leaned the tester an it showed BAD. [never seen that before]I was getting woried my neighbors where starting to get friendly. THANKS AGAIN---FRANK
