Not trying to start a war. I've heard plenty of raves about Hilton's pedal and have actually heard a player use one and the sound was great but he had great tone to begin with on his Fender pedal, too. Have any of you Hilton users purchased the 2 year warrantee and have had to use it?

What I'm looking for is reliabilty and low maintainence. I'm tired if changing pots.

How about the Goodrich potless? Anyone use these? I've actually tried one and there are good things about it, too.

Any other brands out there?

I'd like to see Brad Sarno build a potless pedal with the Black Box circuitry in the pedal.

Thanks, Dave

The Hilton is so reliable that I sold both of my Bigsby Vol/tone pedals. I have used my Hilton for over 2 years now and It has been used used everyday sinced I purchased it. That means I have had it on and working for over 700 days now. I hate to brag, but I can't believe there is any pedal that is better or even close. Just my humble opinion!

Dave, I use the Goodrich LDR and love it. Nothing against the Hilton, I just have had such great service from the Goodrich products through the years.

Buddy Charleton still uses a Goodrich. The Hilton is a good pedal, too. Get one or the other if you don't like pots.

It pays to do business with someone you know and trust. I have known Keith Hilton for many years and he is top notch in character, not to mention that his pedal is outstanding and built like a tank. Take some advise from an oldtimer... buy a Hilton and you can pass it on to your grandkids......JD (and yes, I have a Hilton and a Goodrich 120)

I really like the Hilton pedal, because it didn't 'improve' my tone at all. I like my tone, and this is the most transparent of all the pedals I tried. THis is the new Hilton pedal, it's a keeper.

Get a Hilton. To me they are tops and Keith's customer service is A number 1.

Keith Hilton developed the technology for the best pedal ever. I rewarded him for his efforts by buying his pedal instead of a competitive copy. Get the Hilton. You will not be sorry. Remember, Keith has a money back guarantee.

I like the word Dan used..."transparent". I've been very slow to change from a pot pedal but I too have been a bit put-out with replacing pots (and then having the new ones not be so good). About a month ago, I got a Hilton and have thoroughly enjoyed it and the clarity.

Hey Dave,
Now let me throw my 2 cents into the topic. I bought a Hilton pedal earlier this year. I now realize that I have never played a volume before getting Keith's product. So, BUY A HILTON!!! I bought the pedal straight from Keith. I have nothing against anyone selling his products, but I believe in buying direct when I can do so. Many times this eliminates problems and confusion if you need service. Now, do not spend the money on the 2 year warranty. I asked Keith this question, and he told me as long as I took care of my pedal, then he would take care of me. I really appreciated a businessman being this honest and interested in saving his customer some money. I have called Keith at home on several occasions with questions. He has ALWAYS been polite and helpful in answering my questions. In fact, this man even called me back on Father's Day and answered a question that I had about the pedal. HOW CAN YOU BEAT THAT KIND OF CUSTOMER SERVICE? Keith is one really nice person!

Tonight I tried out each at a gig--the Hilton and the Goodrich, one set apiece. For my taste, the Goodrich sounded more like "me". The Hilton was great also, not too different. The Goodrich sounded just a little warmer and smoother--very subjective words. It would be hard to go wrong with either (though I am now a Goodrich owner...).

I, too, have been using a Hilton for the past 2 or 3 years, and love it...as far as I'm concerned it's the best there is, and Keith stands behind his product 100%...I have not tried the Goodrich potless, but from what I hear.....it, too, is a great pedal........HAL

My guess is that they're all good, even my pot pedal! I decided for now to not be so lazy and change the pots in my pedals. I really like those 470K Jim Dunlop pots. Anyone else been using those?

Yea Dave, I found one of those "Hot Potz" for the Dunlop Hi-Gain passive volume pedal. I have an old ZB volume pedal that uses the rack and pinion gear (wah wah) mechanism to rotate the pot. That Dunlop 470k pot already had the gear on it! I'm sure it'd be easy enough to remove the gear. It's been there for less than a year but so far it's been fine.
