I'm looking into these amps. I need one that I can play steel and 6-string on.

I prefer a less clean sound for the steel- not distorted just a bit more full. I know these amps are clean so I can use a pedal for and overdrive for my guitar. Can I get that kind of sound out of the Nashville?

The Jazz is cheaper. Which should I get? The Nashville is obviously a typical steel amp but doesn't the Classic have some distortion built into it? If it's not too much I think I would like that on the steel just to get a fuller sound. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

The NV 400 will be easy to get a hold of..not true of the Jazz Classic. They are hard to find. They do have a distortion circuit if you need that type of a sound. However, think about using a NV 400 with a good quality overdrive/distortion unit. I recommend a Realtube Overdrive pedal, a Pro-Co RAT distortion pedal or even a Tube Screamer.

Also if you were to use a tubefex or similiar preamp/effects unit you couldn't go wrong either. This set up would give you the opportunity to use steel guitar settings and pre set guitar settings at the touch of a button. I have done that for years.

Good luck.

I have an LA400 which is similar to the Jazz Classic except it came with a 12" BW speaker. I put LA chassis into an old Pacer cabinet and added a 1501-4 BW and it sounds good for steel and guitar both in my opinion, especially clean jazz type guitar sounds, I don't much go for distorted sounds.
