Mike i have a 1989 Peavey Bandit that is i beleive rated at 80 watts, also a 1996 Bandit Transtube rated at 80 watts or 100
watts depending on whether or not, you use the extension speaker jack. My question,
what is the main difference between the power packs in the Bandits and the Nashville 112? I have a Nashville 1000 and
love the steel sound it produces, but find
both of the Bandits unimpressive for psg.
How much better does 112 sound than the Bandits? If i thought it would be that much
better, i'd get one. Please reply.

The Peavey Bandit series of amplifiers were never intended for steel guitar applications. The speaker and the equalization circuit is voiced for six string electric. Years and years of amplifier design experience(and sales) tell us that a mid/shift type of equalization circuit helps the player obtain the best possible sound for steel guitar and fiddle.

On the same token, the "classic style" of equalization in the Bandit helps a guitarist achieve his best sound.

The Nashville 112 and the Bandit 112 are two totally different animals. Although both amplifiers are rated at 80 watts, it doesn't make them the same, nor is it a reason why they should sound different. Most of the tone adjustment is made at the preamp and the tone can be determined to a certain extent by the design of the speaker.
