Sorry about the cross-posting... I'm trying to cover all the bases on this one!

I'm looking for 2 blend controls for a Fender Stringmaster. I recently bought a 70's D-6 Stringmaster and under each little chrome cover where the pickup blend control should be... there's an empty hole. I wonder why anyone would take those out? Please search through your parts!

Please email me at doug@valinet.com , respond here, or call me at 413 788-7560 Thanks!

I hope you knew that before you bought it? Good luck.

Nope, I bought it sight unseen for a very resonable price. I should clarify my post... After a little bit of reseach I realize that I just need the little brass gear-like knobs for the blend controls (2 of them). The pots are readily available, and I could use plastic knobs, but I'd like to find 2 original Fender knobs. I know it's a long shot.

Doug,

I have a single neck (deluxe) probably from the 70s. Same situation. The knob on the top of the blend control is missing. I figure it's some kind of conspiracy.

I've gotten used to adjusting the pot without the knob but if for some miraculous reason you hear about 3 of them, let me know and I'll take the third.

Thanks!

David

Doug: This is what I did. I used the metal discs which stop the legs on a fender amp tilt-back leg assembly. I had to enlarge the hole slightly, but the original hole acts as a pilot hole, so you can`t mess it up. I tried a nickel first, but the amp gizmo worked great!! Good Luck, Steve Spitz

Thanks Steve, It seems like most players who need this part have to "fabricate" something. Thanks to everyone for the emails and helpful info.

Hi Mike,

Thank you for your response. I sent you an email about the blend control knobs.

About the refinishing... I contacted several guitar shops and guitar refinishers, but everyone was either too busy or they didn't feel confident to tackle this job, for some reason. hey... I'm not That picky! This is the second time I've heard Jack Pigeon's name, and I tried to get his phone number before, but I was unable to. Anyway, I have a friend here who owns a guitar repair shop and he's done a lot of lap steel restoration work for me over the past few years... wiring, new tuner buttons, etc. He's going to paint my Custom using the nitrocellulose "vintage" Blonde products. That's great because I don't have to ship it out, and I can keep an eye on things as they progress. I had the body stipped last week at a local furniture "strip shop" and it's now ready for painting. I'm pretty excited about it.

I know this sounds really shadetree mechanic style but you could get some quarters drill the correct sized hole in the middle and the knurled edges would be easy to turn.

Another place to try might be a clock repair shop as I remember the blend knobs were sorta brass colored and had teeth type edges Fender probably didnt make these from scratch its my guess they used this part from somethng else.

Mark, That would certainly be a cheap way out... it would only cost me 50 cents! Yes, I'll have to search around for a creative solution. For now I'll just put new plastic knobs on there.
