Stupid Question - Sho-bud volume pedal

I know this is kind of elementary, but I have an old Sho-bud volume pedal and I forget how I'm supposed to hook it up.

There's just the two jacks on the right side of the pedal. Does the cord from the guitar go in the top or bottom hole?

It seems to kind of work both ways, which is right?

Toes - input from guitar.
Heel - output to amp.

Thanks. That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure and there's no markings or anything to use as a guide.

How do you hook up a Bigsby where the jacks are on opposite sides? Does it really make a difference?

You can probably here a different tone through your pot pedal when you reverse the connections. If in doubt, use the one that sounds best.

It's been a very long time, but; if I remember correctly, the Bigsby V/T pedal is just the opposite from most Stomp-Boxes! Guitar IN on the Left-Side and Right-Side OUT to the Amp. This should give you the longest Vol-Pot Taper!

Just look at the terminals on the pot. The center terminal is the output, so the jack that wire connects to is where the cord to your amp should go. Image

What John Daughterty said. Those of us who are old enough to remember, know that the only difference is that one way you;ll have a thin sound, and the other way will give you a fatter sound.

If your volume control causes a decided change in tone as it varies the volume, it is connected backwards. If there is very little (if any) detectable change in tone as you vary the volume pedal, it is connected correctly.
