I have had this aggravating hum in my FSK since I got it. I was ticked off when I had the speaker replaced (it was blown when I bought it) as it still had this humm and have been waiting to take it back to the shop.
So I am reading the forum and John McC mentions a two to three prong doo hickey. I got one plugged in my amp,and it is quiet as can be no buzz at all. So I guess I have a ground loop problem. Thanks Guys!

as I mentioned before, those are very unsafe to use!
Please remember that - and fix the ground loop on the audio side of your equipment, not the safety side!

Any idea's on what needs to be fixed? Redo all grounds? I think I have schematic in original paper work.

If you really have a ground loop (which may not have anything to do with the amp itself), use an ebtech Hum X ground-loop eliminator. This is safer than lifting your amp ground, and has basically the same effect. $60 MAP last I looked. Yeah, it's more expensive than a 50 cent 3-2 prong ground lifter, but it maintains your ground connection for anything but low-level signals.
If you're handy electronically, it probably wouldn't be too hard to gin something like this up, but they're really not that expensive. You can probably get one at a big-box store to try out, and return it if it's not the ticket. |
