String Gauges (again)

I just received Jerry Byrd's complete study book. In the section on the C6th tuning he recommends a plain .023" or .024" in the G position (4th string). Most string sets make this a .024" wound. Is anyone using this string (.024" plain) with better sound than a .024" wound? I have a 22&1/2" scale.

I hesitate to question anything Jerry says. It's almost like telling God what to do.

I've used both plain and wound. I prefer the plain, and don't seem to suffer the intonation problems others have complained about, at least to ears

what works for JB might NOT work for you....you ain't him...I personally never use over a 22p..I use 26 or 27w for the G..on short scale...
