Is anybody out here that have two pickups on one neck on his Pedalsteel?
I`m interesting in what for pickups you guys use or what combination.
Is there a trick in the wireing ?
I try that on a pedalsteel that I build in this
time and had only bad sounds.I use George`ls and Bill Larwence, Truetone .
When you install only one pickup on the neck it will sound very good.
When you put the second on it( without wireing)
it will sound bad.Comes that when the pickups
mount to close together ? (bad magnetic fields )That is my theory.
I see Paul Franklin on DVD with Dire Straits and he have two Bill Larwence Huimbucker on each neck and he sound good........

I had a Franklin D–10 from about ’83 ’til 2000. Each neck had (2) Geo. L. P/U's. I don't know the model-number, however they were Hum-bucking P/U's. The Bridge P/U was wound around 22,500 Ohms and the Neck P/U was wound about 12,500 Ohms. They didn't have a blender, but rather only a 3-way toggle-switch for each set of P/U's, which gave you a choice of either (Bridge) P/U or (Both) or (Neck) P/U. The only way to blend volumes was to Lower the Neck-P/U, which seemed to even-out their volumes. The toggle-switches were the same type being used at that time for the neck-selector. I don't think those type toggles are any longer available. I guess nowadays you would have to use (2) OFF/ON mini-toggles on each neck. These P/U-Selector switches were mounted on a plate between the necks, similar to the plate on Emmons Guitars. On my guitar I had the neck-p/u adjusted as low as it would go, which seemed to make it just the right blend, considering/remembering that the two P/U's were wound different Ohmage! 22,500 & 12,500 on each neck. I don't know the wind on the Lawrence P/U's. Hope this helps a little.

On the Professional I have a Danny Sheilds Bigsby Copy in the bridge position and a Lawrence 705 in the neck position. It's wired so that the bridge is always on and the neck is blended in. On the Super Pro, I have an EMG at the bridge and an Emmons at the neck. Each pickup has a seperate output (you can't combine an active pickup and a passive pickup).

John, You can get the three position mini toggle switches (on/on/on) from Stewart MacDonald.
