My brand new Nashville 1000 sounds great, and so does my 20+ yrs old Session 500 - actually they both sound really great – both one by one and together. However I had expected a much greater difference after reading all superlatives about the NS 1000 here at the forum, but the new one just seems to be a bit smoother and more even (I don’t know how to describe it in English) soundwise, than the Session. The Session also distorts at killer sound levels – probably because of old and somewhat dried up electrolyte condensers.
Now they sound so good that I’ve decided not to sell the Session; it can be good to have as a back-up, and playing both in stereo is a new and very pleasant musical experience.
But shouldn’t there be a greater sound difference…

where do you have the 220/110 transformer on your Nash 1000 ?
inside or out ?

I got me a really big norwegian made transformer just the other day - 750 watts (the amp eats 360 W) - to be prepared in case I get my hands on more 110 V stuff. I hope to get a TubeFex later on, and I want to be on the safe side and have marigins to avoid having a prune-like, smoking and overheated transformer after a hard evening.
So this 30 lbs transformer will have an own little shielded box to live in, 'cause it's magnetic field sensitive and starts humming easily. I can't have it close to the amp or the guitar pick-up.
