The RV-3 is a very popular reverb/delay pedal that gives you a lot of "bang for the buck"~~ |

I believe the RV 3 is obsolete. Dunno why. Mine was good but hissy after the VP. RV 5 is reverb only FWIG.
Behringer makes a multiprocessor that is probably more than you need. About $150 I think.
The best buy for 4 bills is a Pod xt 24 bit 48k with USB / Stereo/ midi/ functions. Reverbs, delays, chorus/ flangers and tube amp models. Quiet as hell, and good tech support for info.
Takes a bit of tuning in.
I like mine. B4 that I had an RV3, and two peavey deltafex type rack mounts that I didn't like at all. Before that I went "barefoot" for most of twenty years, so there's no hurry with a Nashville 1000.
Shop around. Same Day Music Musicians Friend etc all have good online stores and they're all about the same good price.
If mom and pop want to make it, they better get a computer and set up Pay Pal, that's for sure..

Best sound for the least money? Just add some delay to the reverb of the NV 1000. There are all kinds of delay padals, etc. that will work. A cheap one is the Alesis Nanoverb. Try adding just enough delay so that you don't hear a distinct repeat.

RV-3 for the money will create nice reverbs mixed with delay or either one. Not the greatest resolution (16bit processor) but good enough for guitar. It sure works for Lloyd Green lately. I've recently switched from the RV-3 to the PODxt. The PODxt is probably the best steel guitar effects unit I've used, not just because of what it will do or how it sounds, but because of how easy it is to have it sittin next to me and to reach for any control I need, eq, drive, volume, reverb, delay, delay time (tap button for tempo), preset change, amp model change, etc. The PODxt with the speaker models turned off becomes a real nice virtual tube preamp driving my steel amplifier. There are dozens of classic tube amplifier models in there to choose from and many are very steel friendly. I've got one of the pack-a-seats with the side compartment and the PODxt sits real nicely next to me so it's always an easy reach.

thanks, guys, for the input/ sounds like the podxt is a good unit but maybe to rich for the back bedroom playing. I really respect your opinions. Jack |
