Hi B0b -- I believe you are a bit of a guru on these MesaBoogie preamps -- have you any experience with the V-twin. I tried one out in the studio recently, going to direct to the desk and I was very impressed with how clean it was. Your thoughts?? is it suitable for steel ???

I use the rack version of the V-Twin and I like it a lot. I have a Rotosphere in the effects loop, and I run the output of the V-Twin into a Lexicon MPX-100 which then goes into the power amp (a Mesa 50/50). This combination is the most versatile rig I've ever used.
There's a stompbox version of the V-Twin that isn't a versatile. I've been warned to stay away from it by friends who have tried it. |

Hi Bob - it was the stomp box version I used in the studio -- what is the problem with this unit?, keeping in mind I would only use it for a studio application ??? It seemed pretty good and I like the portability of it.

Hello B0b -- it was the stompbox version that I used in the studio, it seemed pretty clean and very quiet, so what was the issue that your friends didn't like about it??
I would only use it in a studio application and I like the portability of it as well, especially since I fly to lot of sessions.

I was told that it doesn't have adequate volume controls to balance the two channels (clean vs. distorted). I like to keep both channels at the same volume, which is pretty easy to do with the rack unit.

Hi B0b - thanks -- I have managed to find a secondhand V-twin (stomp) about half the price of a new one, so I will let you know if it is any good once I have had a play with it. I really only want to use it as an interface in the studio and the portability appeals to me. Watch this space
