external speaker

my 12 inch external speaker is giving out to many highs, will lining the back with foam or closing the back completely help ? thanks

I have a "THIEL" designed speaker with a 12" JBL that has great bottom end..Don't know how to get a copy of the design but it would be worth the search for it.
