With all the amp modeling these days, my ? is,the GT's eq freq. can be changed to match the nash 400 & 1000's eq and maybe others. Would this be considered amp modeling? If not, what is actually done to make one amp to sound like others? Thanks for any schooling on this subject. Tony

I have a GT in my studio rack and it's a nice unit.I use it mostly for rock guitar sounds but everything is there to get just about any sound and combination of efx you could want. When it comes to something that comprehensive,a lot of units are kinda interchangable.I also have a Boss SE-70 and I can get just about anything out of that as well - same deal with the Peavey units. It just depends on how well you understand the internal architecture of a given device and how many hours you feel like tweaking.I guess that's why a lot of guys want it done for them as in the pre-programmed Jeff Newman ROM cards etc.As far as "modeling" something specific - it can't be much more than just a finely tweaked preset chain of EQ,speaker cabinet/tube emulation and other efx - based on an intimate understanding of the characteristics of the target amp, guitar or whatever. To my mind however,it is much more desirable to actually get the guitar/pickup/amp you really want and then use these multi-Fex devices much more subtly with a touch of this and a touch of that to fine tune the sound you already have. It's more real that way. -MJ-
