I recently tried the three wire hook-up and the sound has improved but when I run the profex ll in the effects loop I cannot get rid of the hum, quite loud..have tried all the ground reversals etc. and adjustments on the profex..nothing changes the annoying hum and I know I will hear about it on the "gig", would like to use it out but may have stay with old hook up.. any suggestions would be appreciated...Bob...

try using a 3 to 2 ac adaptor on the profex, you will be lifting the ground, but will be grounded with the amp

Ken, I tried the VP to profex thing and it did not work may have a problem with the profex? the ground adapter did not work either, for now I went back to-straight from VP to profex and feed the two aps from there...Bob...

If this is a Profex, not a Profex II, then I am not certain how it works. For a Porfex II you need to follow the settings above. If it is a Profex II and you have set it as above, Is suspect a problem with the effects loop.

i had a effects unit sitting on top of the amp. it had a hum, when i took it off the top of the amp the hun went away, maybe the transformer of the amp was inducing hum into the effects unit

It is a profex 11 it sets to my left (key end of guitar) and does not hum at all until I use the three wire hook-up,then tried what Ken said and get no sound at all, if I go strait into amp from pedal and use the effects loop for the profex 11 it is OK, I use two amps..Nashville 400 and Sessions 400 ltd both have LeMay kits as does the Profex 11...Bob...

Robert, if you have a pot pedal, put a Matchbox between the guitar and pedal and run the pedal straight into the amp (no three hookup needed). If you have an active pedal like the Hilton or the new Goodrich, you don't need a Matchbox, and run the pedal straight into the amp (again, no three chord hookup needed). Either way you can then run the Profex in the FX loop, which seems to solve your hum problem.
[This message was edited by David Doggett on 14 May 2003 at 11:04 AM.]
