This has probably come up before. I purchased a new footswich for the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC I bought recently. I had heard some models had an audible pop when the swich was actuated, and mine does. Loudness seems dependent on the volume setting of the instrument, louder the setting the louder the pop.
Has anyone come up with a remedy for this?
Thanks,
Lefty

Hi Lefty,
The popping was a problem with the IIB and was fixed in the C series. What is the SN on your amp?
You can have the amp modded at the factory to C+ specs. Many have this mod done.

Michael,
Thanks. You seem to be the authority on these. There is a number I believe is the serial number under the speaker inputs 10468. This was advertised as a 1984, but who knows. The covering is a brown pleather stuff, so it may be recovered (probably). The tube designator are written in with sharpy marker. The electronics are mint clean though.
I don't know if the pop would bother me enough to send it back for a mod, but thanks for the information.

I think that's a II or IIB, Lefty. My IIC 1-12 combo is SN 123XX and the C+ started with 12500. The IIC is amazing with the Les Paul. I'd consider having it serviced to replace the twenty year old filter caps and install the C+ mod. You'll have a kickin' amp! |
