Hi guys, I just picked up my J116 8" speaker from the repair shop (It's a JBL) for a bookshelf speaker and heard from the speaker repair guy that there is a possible danger to blowing the speaker if the polarity hook-up is not correct?? Is this true that if the speakers are not hooked up correctly (black to black & red to red)that the speakers will blow (especially JBL speakers?)

No, it's not true. The speaker is driven by a signal that is both positive and negative in voltage. Speakers are designed for travel both in and out.
