I'd like to hear impressions and descriptions of the Marrs speaker enclosures. I'm thinking of either a loaded or an unloaded 15" unit. What kind of sound? Weight? Size? Materials? Overall nature? Are they open, closed, ported? Thanks for any and all responses.

Jon, I saw Rusty Danemeyer (LeeAnn Womack's band) play his at Roberts on Broadway. They are extremely light weight. I think they were closed backs. I know Duanne makes them in a variety of colors. They sound great.

I have 2 Marrs 1 12 cabs I use for guitar. They were originally closed back(the front baffle has 4 ports) but where converted to open back by the previous owner.I like them alot. There are Very lightweight. They are made of a very thin wood and reinforced at each joint with a thicker piece. The rest or the cab is lined with styrafoam! Sounds weird but they work...At least for guitar. As far as steel goes I was leary of the bass tones but I have never tried them in that application. The speakers I have in them are strictly for guitar.
My feeling is if Duane makes them for steel they work.Call him and ask him, He's good guy and knows what he's doing.615 868 5344
Hope this helps

Thanks Kevin and Rich. Yes, I had heard they were very light. And I had heard that they had an unconventional design with different 'tone materials'. But wood fetishists aside, I presumed that by virtue of their Marrs pedigree they would be good. Yes, I'll talk with Duane and learn the rest from him. Thanks again.

From the pictures I've seen of Marrs cabinets, they look quite a bit like GD Walker's Stereo Steel cabinets. Other than the SS cabinets having fiberglass insulation instead of styrofoam, does anyone know how close in design they are?
