How many versions of the Renown has been built?

I did a search here on the forum but still has a couple of questions.

As I understand Lloyd has a Renown 115 which he loves.

I`ve seen "Renown 400" which I belive are rated at 210watts?

I just got my hand on a "Renown" rated at 160watts. It got 2x12" Scorpion in it. I`m gonna try a 15" BW cabinett with it and if it works I`m putting one in it. The serial# are gone on this amp.

Can anyone help me with the specifics on each of this versions of the amp and other info on them like which period the were built

Thanks,
Dag

Hello Dag,
I once blow the Scorpion speaker in a Peavey Renown 112 amp.
Instead I bought a 12 inch Black Widow
Number 1203-4 ohm.
Item number is 000211100.
I had it put in by the Peavey Service Center in Aarhus, Denmark. They had to saw a little out of the cabinet, because the new loudspeaker was slightly bigger.
Now the Renown plays perfect. It even has digital echo and reverb built in.
I can recommend the change of loudspeakers.
Kind regards,
Come and see me next time you are down south in Denmark.

Henning,
Are the Renown 112 cabinet smaller than the 212? How many watts is it?

Dag, there were a total of four versions of the Renown amplifier, ie; Renown, Renown 400, Renown 112 and Renown 212. The first "Renown" was rated at 160 watts, the second "Renown 400" was rated at 210 watts, the third "Renown 112" and the fourth "Renown 212" were rated for 160 watts of output power and both featured digital reverb.

Thanks Mike.
What about Lloyd`s amp "Renown 115"? Is it simply a converted 112 or 212 and not written 115 on the amp?

The speaker output on my "Renown" says 2ohms and 4ohms. Can it run a 2ohm configuration?

Thanks,
Dag

Dag, I converted an original Renown (160 W.) from 2 X 12" to an 8-ohm 15" JBL. A 4-ohm speaker is prescribed; so there's a slight volume loss with the 8-ohm. Nevertheless, it's the sweetest sounding amp I've ever owned.

Instead of mutilating the original cabinet or building a new one for the sake of the speaker change, be aware that the Renown amp chassis fits perfectly into a Session 400 cabinet, if you can locate one.

Thanks Bill,
I was thinking about a Session 400 myself before converting the Renown" cab. I have a session in my closet.

You're right, there was a Renown amp that had the single 15" BW. I forgot about that one. To obtain full output power, I suggest the 1501-4 ohm BW for steel applications.
