Hey Jim, I have used Evans Eclipse 15's for years in various amps and setups. Compared to a Black Widow 1501-4 that I asume is in your session, it will have a smoother, rounder tone. The BW's are a little harsher in the high mids and mids than the Evans. Of course some people prefer that. I have had the Evans in a Vegas and an Artist and to me there was a slight improvement in tone. I didn't have any Evans speakers back when I had my Session 400 so I can't make that comparison.
I have used both the Evans and Black Widows in my A.D. cabinets and they both sound great. You may get a little more bottom end with the Evans due to the ridged cone as opposed to the smooth cone of the 1501-4. If you happen to have a ridged cone BW, it is a 1502-4. When I had a Nashville and a Session 400 at the same time, I swapped the speakers, putting the 1501 in the Nashville and the 1502 in the Session. I liked them much better that way, it really cleaned up the "mud" in the Nashville and gave the Session a little more bottom end.
I have an Evans in my Fender Amp http://www.wpro1.com/utilitymanproductions and I absolutely love it. It might just be something to try to see if you like it.
Don't you have an Evans Preamp? Have you ever tried the Evans output into the power amp in jack on the back of your session? There would be a bigger difference in tone that way than by changing the speaker, I would think.
Let me know what you think and if you have any more questions, I will do my best to help.
God Bless,
Michael T.
