Topic: Use a pre-amp with a Bandit? |

I tried my new/old Bandit 65 out Saturday night. Worked fine, and it was a 7-piece band!
Could I use a pre-amp going into the Bandit? The Walker preamp, for example. This would give me lots more tonal variation than just the Bandit's passive tone controls, right?
Any drawbacks with this setup, other than being careful to not blow the speaker?

| Yes, you could route the output signal of the Walker to the POWER AMP IN jack on the rear panel. NOTE: All frontpanel controls would be non-functional and you would be using the interal power amp and speaker with this setup. |

Chris, I'm using my PV Tubefex with my bandit
which is the first transtube series and I replaced the sheffield with a blackwidow which made it a 100 watt amp. I use the power amp in and have used the fx loop return
and it worked ok either way.

Thanks also, Mike. In other words, with a preamp, I would bypass the Bandit's preamp by running into the "power amp in" jack? You say the Bandit's controls become non-functional, so then the Bandit effectively becomes a powered speaker?
But the volume controls on the Peavey would still be functional, right?

Chris consider a Furman parametric EQ it will allow you to tweek in a big way.

Hi Chris,
No, the volume controls on the Peavey amp would not function at all, if you are plugged into the power amp in jack. All of your controls on the front panel are "before" the power amp in jack.
You may be able to turn the output gain of the Walker very low, and plug it in the normal front input on your amp. The big problem I have come across in that situation is getting all of your volume levels set where you are not distorting, or increasing your noise floor.
