Some of you may remember my post 6 or 8 weeks ago, asking about Traynor amps. I got a lot of response, and thanks a lot.
Today, I picked up the new amp, model YCV80Q. It's the LOUDEST 80 watts I've ever heard, but it's clean as the board of health! 4x10, switchable channels(but I haven't tried the hot rod channel yet).
All tubes, and built like a TANK! They also build a 2x12 version, called the YCV80, but I like the response of the 10s. Kinda like an Ampeg SVT.
My playing still sucks too bad to go play a gig(on steel, anyway), but I think this dog will hunt, anywhere!
How much is a Session 400 Limited, in great condition, with cover, worth these days? I think I've found a replacement!

Brand new, Bob. I think this model just came out this year, or maybe last. And I tried the overdrive channel---it burns, too! I'm telling you, this may be the only amp I'll ever need. And I'm not getting paid for this.

Sorry to keep harping on the Fender Rhodes connection, but the ideal amp to play a hodes through, is a Fender Twin. On the Rhodes mailing list, Traynor tube amps are held in almost as high regard. Apparently they are bulletproof as well!

They are built on Canada right?

Traynor recently announced a new amp to add to its line. It is a 15 watt all tube amp with reverb, master volume, and effects send/return. It has a single 12" celestion speaker. It is very similar to the YCV80 and YCV80Q except 15 watts instead of 80. I have called my local music store and they have some on back-order. This may be the ultimate practice/studio tube amp. It is not inexpensive. The asking price is $519 with a list of $649. It is just a little less than the YCV40 but has a lot more features.
My son plays his 6 string thru a YCV40 and it is clean and powerful.

I've been playing my Traynor Mark 3 since '73 and it's been a workhorse. Speakers died once and then a solder joint broke loose on a cap about 8 years ago. Other than that it's been problem free. A real powerhouse, especially after I put the EV12L's in it.
