I've had my Hilton over year now and I've noticed in the last couple of months that it occasionally pops real loud. It happens mostly in the first few minutes of play, and if I work it back and forth 5-6 times it usually stops popping for awhile. Anyone else notice this? Any suggestions Kieth? It sounds like the old pots when they were dirty. I've looked at it and can see nothing visually wrong, wiggling the wires does not make it pop.

I have also noticed that wide open, with no input in the pedal, I get white noise through the amp. Should there be a change considering there is no input, why should output change on a pedal of this type?

Thanks for using my pedals. The problem you decribe sounds like something I should take a look at. Return the pedal to: Keith Hilton 248 Laurel Road Ozark, Missouri 65721 Falures are rare but they do sometimes happen. If you need to talk to me, call 417-581-4158.

WEll what can happen(and happened to me) if you actually play outside your house.....is you can get dust/dirt or a particle on the part that is scanned by the infer-red and that may create a pop sound.
So get you some air-spray...or tuner control....and spray it out....that's what I did....and haven't had a prob. with it since.

Thanks Ricky, I figured it might be something like that. I'm just not sure which part to blow off, will it be obvious once I take the bottom off?

If that doesn't work, I'll mail it back to you next week Keith.

I have had a few cases where stuff gets on the film that regulates the infrared. Pedals are played on the floor and sometimes there can be anything on a floor. Worse thing is to play your pedal in the sand on the beach. I've had a couple of guys do this. It is OK to blow off the film with air spray. Don't use contact cleaner, only air. You can get a can of air blower at Radio Shack.

Same thing happened to me. I just turned it over and unscrewed the two screws that hold on the silver plate. I could look inside and saw a cobweb that was interfering with the infra red. I cleaned it with my finger. That solved it. No more pops since then.
