I used my new rack system on a live job Saturday night and was not very happy.
I had tested this thing at home at what I felt was stage volume with excellent results.

At the gig when I set up and did sound check, it sounded fine. Well, when we started the FOH guy came to me and complained about a intermittent buzzing sound. It only happened when I played so it had to be mechanical. Halfway into the first set, I began to notice what I felt was a high end distortion. Kind of a rattling sound. We rolled off some of the highs in the monitor and most of it went away. I kept thinking I heard distortion all night long but no one else including the FOH man could hear it. This drove me nuts. I never did get a handle on it. When I was packing up, I noticed that the metal grill covering will flex and make a "boing sound". I'm going to test this tonight and see if that is the problem. My old Profex II is malfunctioning, so I bought another one this morning for plan B. If nothing else, I'll pull the mesa boogie preamp and TC electronics unit and put in the Profex II. I also may try some different setup options where I am not running directly into the Mesa Boogie.
