Profex Problem

I have 2 Profex II's that have the same problem and was wondering if anyone knows the cure. When the unit is turned on I get this message in the LCD "DSP INTERFACE ERROR (resetting system) and thats it. It will not do anything else. Is this a simple battery problem? Thanks,

John, I had this problem with a Tubefex and had to have the DSP chip replaced. I hope that is not your case. You might want to reinitialize them (you will loose your settings) by holding the play and global buttons down and then plugging in the power supply. If that works, check the condition of the batteries! Open the top, two screws on each side, one screw front and back a bit off center. Lift the lid and look at the battery. You can clean up the battery and surrounding area with acetone and a Q=tip, that will neutralize the acids (if it has leaked). After that, get them replaced ASAP. Peavey will do an excellent job for you on this! I have probably replaced close to 40 batteries in the last year in Profexes, Tubefexes, Transtubefexes, Midi-filers, and Autographs. They can do a lot of damage if left too long!

It is very strange that you have two Profex II with the same problem. Are you using a
cache card? If so, I would suggest there may be something wrong with the card. You might should borrow another card and reinitialize the Profex and load with a different card. If that solves the problem then you could reload your card if you have one and that should solve it. The reason I say this is a friend was having the same problem and we reloaded his Profex with my card and then reloaded his card with my Profex and his problems are solved. It seems so strange that you would have 2 units both with the same defect in the units themselves. Sounds more like a programming problem to me.

I agree with Jerry Roller......
The same thing happend to me.
The card had a bad program on it.
It took me several days of lookin' over the circuits with a scope and DVM to conclude that the "Profex II" itself wasen't bad or defective.

I reloaded the cache card with the JN presets and everything is now O.K.
