I purchased an MSA Classic D-10 a few years ago. The front pick up is made by Bill Lawrence and works fine. The pick up on the C neck is a George L Emmons 66. Now I understand that they're suposed to sound a little thin, but this thing barely cuts through! It sounds like a very thin transistor radio.
Someone suggested that it may in fact be the switch that you use to flip back and forth on the necks. Any Suggestions, Ideas, Opinions?

| Check the pickup ground wire by shorting it to the guitar body with a screwdriver or piece of wire. Check the hot wire by doing the same thing to either the output side of the neck switch or directly to the output jack. |

| To me, it sounds like your E-66 isn't working at all, and what you're hearing is actually the sympathetic body vibrations being picked up by the Bill Lawrence pickup. To test this, turn on the C6th (with your volume pedal about half-way), and then tap the top of the E-66 with something made of steel...like an allen wrench, or a paperclip. It should make a really loud noise...if not, I suspect you have a wire broken somewhere, a bad switch, or a bad E-66 pickup. |
