Profex exf loop for volume pedal?

After searching previous posts I found no mention of anyone running the volume pedal through the profex efx loop. My pedal is an old mono sho bud and the amp is a LTD 400. I do not like the pedal in line before or after the profex so I am trying the efx loop. I have tried this and there is a lot of signal loss by doing it this way. If anyone has any thoughts, info or advice I would appreciate it.
