I recently bought an Evans high-voltage pre-amp and a Lexicon MPX500. I have them in a rack along with a Furman power-supply and a Stewart World 1.2 power-amp.
I am hearing a little more hiss and hum than I am used to and am wondering if my settings may be causing this. Can anyone using the Evans high-voltage pre-amp share all of their settings with me? I need a good starting point with settings, which should help me to isolate my problem.
Any advice on either of these units is very welcome and will be much appreciated!

I don't know much about your preamp, but the gain structure is important, so you might want to play around with that. Also investing fifty cents in a lifter could help immeasurably. I use lifters with all my preamps.
Good luck,

If you use the Evans preamp without the processor do you get the hiss? The input/output knobs on the processor may be adjusted too hot for the preamp input/output.

Susan and Len,
I tried both suggestions and each one helped somewhat. It is still a little noiser than I am used to, but much better. Now I am trying to come up with some settings I can live with.
Thanks to both of you for your advice!
