Input #1 is the normal High Gain "Play it loud and be proud" input for most electric guitar Instruments and Steels.. Input #2 is a Low Gain input for Instruments that may have a very strong output signal. It has 10db less input gain than Input #1. This is common for Electric guitar amps of all brand names .

Thanks for your help Tony. The "low gain" or input number two is designed to handle active pickups as well as any pickup that has very strong output.
