Ok... We've just had a megathread on this amp. Yep, the PV Classic 50212. A while back I saw an add by Gerald Weber of Kendrick Amp fame. He wanted you to send him your amp and he would make it better.

If you wanted to improve this amp, what specifically would you do?

I've got one of these on the way so I'll be watch'n this thread with interest. There's an excellent interactive forum on Peavey stuff at [ Peavey.com ]. Click on interactive forum then click amplifiers then register. One popular upgrade seems to be using JJ tubes. For steel, I'm curious about other speaker options like BW 1203's. I wont be in a hurry to mess with a new amp though as the word is they sound pretty fine off the shelf. How far back do these amps go anyway?
BTW Steve, could you post or email me how to contact Gerald Weber? Thanks.

I recently got one of these amps from Bobbe Seymore. I like mine alot. I do plan to put a set of JJ tubes in it but I want to get good and used to the factory sound first so I can tell right off if the JJ's made that great a difference. I play my 10 string Ricky steel and my Les Paul through this amp and I use a Line 6 Pod for effects. This little amp really kicks up the dust. PLENTY of power and plenty of fat sounding chords. Good luck!

The Peavey Classic 50 amplifier was introduced in 1991 and has been one of our flagship amplifiers ever since. Thanks for using Peavey products.

Mine is almost five years old with hundreds of jobs under it's belt. I'm thinking it's time to retube.
I'm also leaning towards putting a pair of JBLS in it.
