I have a couple of late 60s early 70s sho-bud amps that have jbl speakers in them. One is a model M30 and the other says M31 .They both look and sound alike but I havent heard any one mention this model speaker in their amps before .It seemes to be the original equipment. How does this speaker compare to the D-130 that seemes to be more popular ? Thanks George King

I bought an M30 in the 90's. JBL advertised it as a recreation of the D130s. I don't know how it relates to the speakers you've got, but it sounds good. It could be the number that JBL or Shobud assigned to the speaker. That happens many times when a speaker is made for another manufacturer.

I am no expert, and I could not get any sort of answer out of the people at JBL, but I was told when I bought my M31 that it was basically a Sho-Bud D130 but made for 4 ohms. Mine is in my Twin Reverb and sounds great -- and I didn't have to put in a Single Showman O/P transformer to match an 8 ohm D130.

My M31 tests 4 ohm according to my amp guy and says 4 ohms on the back. Didn't Sho-Bud make an amp that looked for 4 ohms?
