Hemp Speakers

A friend of mine who works for a sound company has been testing hemp speakers lately. He says they sound much better than anyone expected, and that they have a very flat frequency response.

Has anyone here tried hemp speakers yet. My friend says they're made in Canada because it's illegal to grow hemp in the US.

So, with hemp speakers, do you just mellow out if you smoke one? Image

We have a little store just down the road from me that sells just about anything made from hemp.
Apparently it is extremely strong when woven - so much, so that advocaters want it to be made more easily available to the general public.

I was looking for drum cases on E-Bay, and found a set of "Hemp Drum Cases" listed with an $800.00 reserve. I figured at that price it must be some pretty strong #@&# stuff. Did not have a picture, unfortunantly. I know all the old boats used rope made of hemp. Very srong, and handy for those long trips, I guess () Image

OK, I give up! What part of the speaker is hemp? Image

Also, I thought we had already decided we didn't want flat sound?

(Bob never jokes, so this must be serious.)

Jokes aside, please. The part of the speaker that is normally paper is made of woven hemp.

You're right, Donny - we usually don't like flat speakers. I think these must be intended for PA, keyboard or reference monitor use. I'm not sure, though.

Seriously, has anyone tried them?
