You can't tell about an amp, or a steel for that matter, until the last two sets in a west river bar At home you'll never play that loud without the neighbors taking out petitions.

A half dozen weekend gigs later, the verdict is in. The volume was up around 5-6 and that is seriously LOUD on this amp. It didn't even break a sweat.
The second best part is that it's a lot lighter than my Vegas.
The downside if you double on guitar is just one channel.

I love mine. Nice and clear sound, clean, perfect compliment to my axe. very loud and plenty of power. Nice sweet sound. Plenty of range and features...Peavey did it on this one...

Larry, thanks for the link, and the "notes" Excel file. I have been looking for that for a long time, and was ready to make my own...

Been using mine with a Profex 11 for better than a year now and am very satisfied.
Plenty of power and it doesn't have the "muddy mids" that my Session 500 had.
I go direct into the board from the mic' jack in back and the sound out front is fine.

The 1000 is the best amp out there for Steel..I have had mine for almost 2 years and its worked perfectly..I have owned Nashville 400's,Session 500,s and 400's,Webb's etc..
The 1000 is not only the best sounding amp of all but the best buy..What more could you ask for?..Plus Peavey's service is the best available..

For over a year with a Profex II. Versatile enough to play small rooms with very clear sound. And loud and clear on the big outdoor stage. Great amp.

One thing with any amp that I feel a lot of us do not realize is, it takes some time to break in a new speaker. I have had cases where some one has put in a new speaker, for what ever reason, and said that the amp did'nt sound like it did be-fore. A speaker moves,and it takes approximately 60 hours to break in a new one to where you will get the sound you had be-fore.

Harold's right. At first the speaker may sound "stiff", then there is a period of time that it sounds good to you. Due to the mechanical design of a speaker, it will eventually wear out, but sometimes that will take many, many years. I compare it to a set of tires for your car.

This is a part of the reason we manufacture our Black Widow(with the exception of the 1501-4 SB which has a paper cone) and Scorpion line of speakers with KEVLAR material. This material withstands the erratic cone punishment that a speaker can experience with distortion.

I thought it was a good amp. Mine was a problem child however. Sent it back three times for service to the factory (via the local dealer). Service experience from Peavey was fine - as always. They just couldn't fix it. It kept hissing and then would shut itself off randomly. My three strike rule was envoked when it died on stage after fix #3. The dealer gave me credit on a Fender DeVille, 60w tube amp with 4x10" which sounds great for steel and guitar - very clean. For some gigs I use my old Peavey stereo chorus 400! It's a rock. I'll try the 1000's again when the bugs are worked out because it did sound fine for steel. Wasn't amazing or anything - but did the job.

I also have two 1000s. I have not had any problems. Plenty of volume, great tone. I like the balanced output. I sometimes run direct to the board. You can adjust the speaker volume with the master gain and it won't change the output to the board.

I love mine! I think there are a few amps out there that do sound a little better, however, their price tag is twice as much as the 1000. Recessed knobs to prevent them from being broken and the ability to tilt the amp back would be a few minor suggestions.
