Need opinions from you guys that use an amp with one 12" speaker. I know there's some of you out there so lets hear it!! Also, what brand and model are you using?? Loren. |

| I have a Fender Stage-112SE that does a good job in small venues. It's got great tone, and 118 watts through one 12" speaker. The short-tank reverb wasn't much...so I put a new 18" tank in it, and it sounds pretty good now! [This message was edited by Donny Hinson on 10 June 2001 at 05:34 PM.] |

I often use my Mesa/Boogie Maverick Prototype for small venues. It has a 12" EVM in it that's about 20 years old and still sounds great.

| There is no 12 like an EVM. I love the sound of a Deluxe Reverb, but they don't have the power that I need. |

I use a Peavey nashville 400 with a 15" black Widow speaker and a Peavey Bandit 75 witha 12" speaker and a Pro Fex 2 and was told by two great steel players that I had the best sound at our Steel Show and the wanted the numbers off the Pro Fex and I told them it was the combination of the two different Amps.

| I have a WEBB 6-14GP that I use only on our worship team that has a 12" JBL. It sounds very good as I also play mandolin & it has the "fiddle" select. The amp is also miked. My WEBB 6-14E with the 15" JBL 8-ohm has a real full, rich sound which sounds different than models with the 4-ohm.I appreciate them both! |

Hey Mouse!!!!!!! Good to see you posting! I use a little differant than what you're asking but.......
I use my Twin Reverb with an extention spkr w/2/12's in it. Next time you get to Duluth, stop in and give it a test drive. The coffee pot is always on.

| My Mesa/Boogie is only 40 watts. The EVM is a very efficient speaker. It's often all I need for small venues. |

I got one of my best recorded tone with a Sho~Bud and a 1959 Fender Harvard w/JBLD120..I think noone would believe me. However I wouldn't recommend that for live use

Hi Loren,
This is interesting, because, to me, it really does boil down to what size room you're playing in and how much power you need. I've played small places with both pedal and lap thru a Magnatone Troubador 12", and it sounded just as good as playing thru my Peavey Nashville -- except not as loud. To me, anyway. |

I think you're right, Al. I played a restaurant/bar gig without drums last weekend. The little Boogie with a single 12 had plenty of headroom there. I've even used it outdoors for backyard parties and such. If you don't need to get loud, a single 12 in a little tube amp can give you a really satisfying tone.

| I sometimes use a "Nashvile 400" head and a "Peavey" 112E cabinet. Works very well in a moderate venue. Good tone,good volumne,not heavey at all. |

Loren, are you thinking about going that route on the upcoming RCS? That auditorium is without a doubt the best sounding place I've ever played in.

| Hi George, always good to hear from you!! I really don't know if I'll go that route, but was just wondering how players like a 12" speaker. The RCS was last Saturday and went really well, everybody said the sound was great and your right, what a beautiful facility!! But I'll tell ya, I had a real difficult time getting settled into my sound. That was the first I played my Emmons along with my Webb out. I was so used to my Bud with a Nashville 400 which I no longer have. I just loved that combination along with a little digital reverb. Don't get me wrong, that Emmons and Webb is great stuff, but deep down I'm still in love with that little red Pro I. Anyone want to comment please do. Loren. I used to play '70 P/P S-10 Emmons thru a 1975 Peavey Artist amplifier that had one 12" Black Widow. That was one of the sweetest sounding combinations I've played thru.
